Hey, Team Michigan!
Everyone ready your calendars! Extremely cool events and volunteering opportunities to follow.
Next Sunday, September 29, I will be speaking at the Indivisible Illinois Rockin’ Zoom Phone Bank Party. We’ll be calling for the Michigan Coordinated Campaign and advocating for VP Harris, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, and more. You can register to join me at 3:45pm via Zoom here!!Â
This coming Monday, September 23, at 7:30pm ET marks the beginning of the 24-hour Zoom! This is a super cool and unique postcarding marathon event hosted by Downtown Nasty Women, Markers for Democracy, and Team Min. You’ll have the opportunity to write letters for Democrats up and down the ballot, while listening to 24 hours worth of inspiring pro-Democracy speakers (including Gretchen Whitmer)! The Zoom will be active for the whole 24 hours, but you can come and go as you please. RSVP here or check out their Linktree for more information on speakers, updates, postcarding info, etc.
On a much more last-minute note, if you don’t have any plans this afternoon/evening and are located near the UMich campus, go hear Jane Fonda discuss all things climate and election with an amazing panel of students and activists! She will be speaking in the Rackham Auditorium from 5-6:30pm. This event is free, but registration is mandatory, so go here to sign up.Â
OK, feel free to put away your calendars now and ready your wallets.
Judges Kimberly Ann Thomas and Kyra Harris Bolden are running for the Michigan State Supreme Court, and need your support to win critical races in the fight for voter rights, fair districting, and upholding personal freedoms. Click here to donate to their campaigns through Oath.Â
You can also go to DemCast’s State Supreme Court Social Media Toolkit to help publicize the above races. This is such an easy and helpful way to get the word out about races that are often overlooked!
Lastly, Vote Forward has launched a whole bunch of new letter writing campaigns aimed at voter registration and turn out. Unsurprisingly, multiple of these are targeting MI. Here are a few options that are still in need of writers:
Encourage young and historically underrepresented voters to turnout
Encourage historically underrepresented voters to register to vote
Sign up now and send your letters between October 1 and 29.Â
That’s it for now. Thanks, all!
